FAFSA Release Date

According to the official website of Federal Student Aid, the release date of the 2024-25 FAFSA form has been pushed back from the original December 1 to "by December 31, 2023." The latest info on the "revised and streamlined FAFSA" is posted at https://studentaid.gov/announcements-events/fafsa-support

Meanwhile, current seniors can save time by creating an FSA-ID account now at https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch

Here are some of the planned revisions:

• the number of questions drops from 109 to 31
• the maximum number of colleges increases from 10 to 20
• discontinues consideration of the number of family members in college
• Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) is replaced by Student Aid Index (SAI)
• The optional IRS Data Retrieval Tool is being replaced by the mandatory IRS Direct Data Exchange.
